Housebets is an outlier brand for Bridge Technologies B.V., the Curacao-based casino network company behind the brand. It used to operate other international casino brands (most notably Shinobibet and 1SBet), but they’ve been closed down. It now operates a couple of Australia-specific brands, including Lux96, but they’re so location-specific and small that we haven’t profiled them here. If the operator launches any new casinos on the Housebets sister sites network and makes them available internationally, they’ll appear here. Until then, Housebets has to be considered the only high-profile brand on the platform.

It’s a long-standing truism in the online casino world that in the end, the house always wins. Housebets is trying to turn that truism on its head by returning the house edge to players. We’ve seen cryptocurrency casinos before, and plenty of them, but Housebets goes a step further by operating a truly decentralised platform where the profits are returned to the players and the house doesn’t actually win at all. How can Housebets possibly be making enough money to stay afloat, then? It’s a good question. Let’s see if we can answer it over the course of this review.

Housebets Welcome Bonuses

The welcome promotion that Housebets puts on the table is certainly an attractive one – a 100% match up to a possible maximum of £1000 on first deposits of £20 or more – but there’s an extra step of admin required if you want to take it. Before making your qualifying deposit, you need to contact the customer support team and let them know you’re about to deposit and that you want to claim the bonus. This is highly unusual (to the point where it’s likely to be off-putting for some), but so long as you’re happy to chat, it’s an easy enough process to follow. The associated wagering requirement is x35, which is still the going rate on the international iGaming scene.

Other Promotions

Housebets was still a relatively new casino site on the day we reviewed it, so it doesn’t have much to offer on the ongoing bonus front. However, there arew new features coming soon, including the HBTS token airdrop. Once live, players will be able to collect keys immediately, and each key opens a token airdrop and other “ecosystem rewards.” Similarly, each key comes with a share of the house’s airdrop of $HBTS tokens. It would be nice to have a little more specific information on the value of these things, but that’s all the casino is able to tell us at the moment.

We should note that on the page of the Housebets website that discusses the token, it mentions that the casino makes money by taking “a very low house edge,” which contradicts the claim made on the homepage that 100% of the house edge goes back to players. We expected this – it would make no sense for the casino to exist if it gave literally everything away – but it does make the information on the homepage feel a little dishonest.

VIP Rewards

We can tell you that the VIP reward scheme at Housebets exists, but we can’t tell you much more than that. There are nine ranks to the scheme: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Pearl, Onyx, Diamond, Palladium, and Castle, but the final two are marked as “Coming Soon,” so they’re not open at all yet no matter how much you’re spending with the casino. Both rakeback and lossback are listed as benefits of the scheme, along with weekly and monthly reload bonuses, but no specific or even example amounts are given. Housebets claims that its rakeback is the highest in the industry, but we’d be surprised if that’s true at the lowest level of the VIP ladder.

What are the Pros and Cons of Housebets Casino?

Pros: Housebets is much more serious about cryptocurrency than 99% of crypto casinos are, offering players keys, tokens, airdrops and other ways to engage with crypto beyond just letting them gamble with it. The portfolio is strong, sports betting is available alongside casino games, and withdrawals rarely take more than a few minutes.

Cons: It feels a bit like Housebets launched before it was really ready to. Some of the ongoing promotions aren’t available yet, and the VIP scheme is unfinished. Also, the homepage claims that 100% of the house edge is returned to players, but this isn’t true. The house edge might be small, but it still exists.

Having a Curacao Gaming Authority licence opens the door to most of the top providers in the iGaming world, and Housebets has taken full advantage of that. It doesn’t offer bingo or lottery games, but other than that, it’s a comprehensive portfolio.

Housebets Casino – The Verdict

For the reasons we’ve already covered in the Pros and Cons section of our review, Housebets Casino feels more like a work in progress than a finished product at the moment. It isn’t doing its token airdrops yet, and it hasn’t finalised the upper tiers of its VIP scheme. Once that’s done, it has the potential to be one of the biggest and best cryptocurrency casinos out there, but we still think it’s a little strange that the website was launched before it was the finished article. It’s a decent enough choice if you’re into crypto gambling, but the lack of bonuses that Housebets offers in its current format means it can’t compete with the best.
