Skill on Net Limited
Skill on Net has been one of the biggest operators on the UK online casino scene for twenty years now, having formed way back in 2005. It’s best known for being the company behind PlayOJO, but there are other big names to consider on this casino network. Here’s a sample of them.
Most of the biggest casinos and sister sites on the Skill on Net Limited platform are owned and operated by the company directly, but it also has a decent number of white-label brands, run in conjunction with third-party individuals. It’s actually one of the biggest and busiest companies in the white-label market, and is still pumping out new casinos to this day despite already having a portfolio of more than sixty. That’s a lot of progress for a company that started out in the iGaming business by running a single backgammon website.
Such is the status and prestige of the Skill On Net Limited network that the company has been entrusted with several branded properties over the years. Genting Casino is the most obvious example, with the operator running the digital version of the brick-and-mortar casino brand that’s become a fixture in so many British towns and cities. The one and only official Slingo website is also on the Skill On Net Limited platform, and even TV shows like The Masked Singer have partnered with them to launch official casino sister sites in the past. The past twenty years have been great for Skill on Net, but the company’s future might look even brighter.
AG Communications Limited
AG Communications Limited is the UK-facing version of Aspire Global, which is based out in Malta and is one of the biggest casino network companies not only on the domestic scene but across the whole world. The top casino sister sites on this massive network include the following well-known brands.
In recent years, AG Communications Limited has transitioned away from owning and operating casinos directly, choosing instead to trade on an exclusively white-label basis. It doesn’t come up with betting and casino brands itself, but if you or your company want to get into the casino business, it will happily design a website for you, provide it with games, and cover it with its licence. There are other white-label operators out there, but it’s difficult to argue that any of them have had as much success with the model as AG Communications has.
While Aspire Global has been around for longer, AG Communications first broke into the UK marketplace in 2009 and has been one of the biggest names in it ever since. While none of its casino sister sites are household names, by which we mean you’re unlikely to see any of them advertised on television or hear them on the radio, brands like Mr Play have become familiar to thousands of UK-based players thanks to a combination of well-targeted internet advertising and simple word of mouth.
LC International
LC International Limited plays host to some of the oldest and most celebrated sports betting brands in the world in Ladbrokes and Coral, but there’s more to this operator than just sports betting.
You can travel the whole world, but you’ll never find a sports betting brand as old as Ladbrokes. It’s been in continuous operation since 1902, and will likely still be around one hundred years from now. Coral is almost as old, having started trading in 1926. For most of their existence, the two brands were great rivals on the British high street, competing for space, attention and custom. However, the changing gambling landscape saw them attempt to join forces in 1998 when Ladbrokes first purchased Coral and its near-900 shops. The age of internet betting had arrived, and the companies were better together than they would be apart. The UK Government felt differently, though, and ordered Ladbrokes to sell Coral almost immediately because the move fell foul of the Monopolies and Mergers Commission. The companies had been kept apart for the short term, but their time would come again.
In 2015, Ladbrokes and Coral got together again to talk about a possible merger. By that time, Coral was part of the Gala Coral Group, and also owned Gala Bingo and other Gala brands. The UK Government still had concerns, but this time the deal went through, and LC International Limited was created. The ‘L’ and ‘C’ stand for Ladbrokes and Coral. The whole merged group was bought by GVC Holdings for £4bn in 2017, and that was the beginning of something even bigger in the shape of Entain Plc, which is almost like a supergroup containing not only Ladbrokes, Coral, the Gala brands and the Foxy brands but also massively successful international sports betting brands like Bwin.
BV Gaming Limited
The idea of there being a “Bet Victor Group” is still quite a new thing. For most of its existence, Bet Victor was just Bet Victor. It’s only recently that we’ve seen the sports betting brand expand and become a casino network company, and now it owns these sites.
The first expansion of the BV Gaming Limited brand was the addition of Parimatch as a white-label version of a sports betting brand that had done well abroad, which made sense as it was an extension of something that Bet Victor already excelled at. The first sign that the company was starting to do things differently was the addition of Heart Bingo, which it picked up from another casino network and added a whole new string to its bow by doing so. Smooth Spins, the official casino site of Smooth Radio, was the network’s first purpose-built casino site.
For all of its new bingo and casino arms, sports betting sister sites are still this company’s bread and butter. Betano was added to the network in mid-2024, following hot on the heels of TalkSPORT Bet. You can probably work out which major sports radio company that one’s attached to. The addition of Punt It as yet another sports betting option in 2025 briefly made us wonder if the BV Gaming Limited network was offering players too much of the same thing, but the brand’s subsequent success quickly confirmed that there’s still plenty of room in the market for quality operators.
Gamesys Casinos
Gamesys Operations Limited is the power behind the enormous success of JackpotJoy, but after a change of ownership in 2021, it might be about to reach even greater heights.
When the company we now know as Gamesys Operations Limited was founded in 2001 in London, it was a proudly British company owned by just three software developers, all of whom had experience in the rapidly-developing online casino and iGaming scene. It was this trio of founders who were responsible for creating JackpotJoy, but the success of JackpotJoy almost ended up eating the company. The story of Gamesys is long and complicated, and we encourage you to check out our dedicated page for the operator to find out more, but the short version is that Gamesys sold JackpotJoy for £425m in February 2015, only for the successful bidder to come back and perform a takeover of Gamesys itself. All of this came just two years after Gamesys had started aggressively expanding in the market by buying up casinos like Virgin Games, so it was a busy and turbulent time for the operator.
The version of Gamesys that had existed between 2001 and 2019 came to an end when the JPJ Group – the buyers of JackpotJoy – bought it in 2019. the JPJ Group then renamed itself as the Gamesys Group, and took ownership of all the other Gamesys sites. That would have been the end of the story had it not been for the fact that Gamesys had begun to attract attention from overseas. In October 2021, the massive Bally’s Corporation completed a £2bn takeover of the Gamesys Group. That began the process which led to Bally Casino launching in the UK in 2023. The brand hasn’t yet hit the heights that its operator surely hoped that it would, but it has time on its side yet.
Popular UK Brands
Not every big UK-facing casino brand or site belongs to a big casino network company. Our “best of the rest” collection below includes some of the biggest UK brands of all, so it’s not one to skip over.
Some of the casinos and iGaming brands we’ve chosen to feature here are the only sites that their respective owners have ever come up with. Not every casino operator or network site has dreams of operating a hundred or more casinos or a wide network of white-label sites. Plenty are more than happy to open a single casino, back it to the hilt in terms of marketing and then reap the rewards. Take Mr Q, for example.
