There is a wide range of welcome promotions at Betway—or, at least, there was at the time we wrote this review—and the question of which is the best depends on what you want to do at the site. Most people who use Betway still come to the site primarily for sports betting, but not all of the welcome offers are specific to sports.

Betway is a little shy about what it offers beyond the initial welcome promotions. You can’t see any further promotions until you’ve registered as a customer. The idea is that the welcome offer lures you in, and you get to see the rest of your potential rewards once you’ve taken the plunge and signed up. There’s a “promotions” tab visible on the homepage of the site, but clicking on it will take you to a login screen unless you’re already a member.

If you want to play casino games, go to Betway Casino. That’s what it’s there for. Betway is for sports betting, and you won’t find a UK-facing brand that offers more on that front. Before anyone who works for one of Betway’s rivals gets sour about that comment, note that we said “more,” not “as much as.” There are several big-name betting firms that go as broad and deep as Betway does with its full portfolio, but none that exceed it. The bread and butter of the site has always been football betting, though. Robbie Keane has served as Betway’s ambassador in the past, but that role is currently filled by the iconic Thierry Henry. Deposit and Withdrawal Methods

Payment and withdrawal information at Betway isn’t as clear as it could be. Checking the FAQs within the help section of the site tells us that the site accepts debit cards, e-wallets, and PayPal, but nowhere does it specifically tell us which debit cards and e-wallets are acceptable. Going off the logos in the footer of the site, we think – but cannot confirm – that Betway accepts all Mastercard and Visa debit cards plus Neteller, Rapid Transfer, and PayPal. Skrill and Trustly aren’t mentioned, and so we’re forced to assume they don’t work here.

Customer Support and License

As we’ve noted a few times in this review, customer support is a significant weakness at Betway. You have to decline multiple suggested options within the FAQ before you are offered the chance to speak to anybody, and even then, your only option is web chat.

With regards to licensing, Betway is a dual-licenced casino with up-to-date licences from both the UK Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority. These licences cover all of the Betway sister sites, but the operator’s UK licence hasn’t always been spotless. The company has been disciplined by the regulator twice in the past, with the £11.6m settlement in 2020 being the largest the regulator had ever demanded up to that point. After three years of trouble-free operation, the fine has been expunged from the records and the licence is considered clean again.

Betway – The Verdict

Betway is a massive sports betting site. A lesser brand would have been damaged – perhaps fatally – by that enormous settlement that Betway reached with the UK Gambling Commission in 2020, but Betway seems to have barely broken its stride. It’s a well-rounded site with options for everybody, and it looks modern, sharp, and dynamic. If it strengthened its customer support, it would probably receive better reviews from customers – and also from us.
