AK Bets Sister Sites

Star Sports Bet

Star Sports Bet is the flagship betting brand of Star Racing Limited and one of the clearest platform links to AK Bets. It’s also a strange casino and betting site in terms of the way that it’s organised. If you go to starsportsbet.co.uk, you’ll find a site full of sports news and analysis with no betting options. Go to starsports.bet, though, and you’ll find the widest and deepest sportsbook that you’ll come across at any of the AK Bets sister sites. We’re not sure why the brand is divided in this way, and can’t help but feel that it must play havoc with search engine results. That’s not our concern, though. Star Racing began in 1999 before adopting the Star Sports name in 2009, and the brand claims to be the biggest luxury bookmaker in the UK. We’re not sure about that, but it certainly covers far more betting options than your average sports betting company and even allows wagers to be placed on political and other matters.

McBookie

McBookie isn’t the official iGaming or betting site of McDonald’s, as amusing an idea as that might be. Instead, it’s a sports betting company with Scottish roots, and has been around since 2009. That gives it approaching 20 years of experience, which means it must be getting something right. We include McBookie among the AK Bets sister sites because it once shared the Playbook platform used by AK Bets, although that connection is now a historic one. McBookie has since moved to Altenar technology and is operated by Playquarry Limited under its own UK Gambling Commission licence. The brand’s Scottish origins are reflected not only in its name and the blue background of its homepage but also in the “about us” section of the website. The motto of McBookie is “Always putting Scottish sport and Scottish punters first,” but we believe that the site won’t hold it against you if you’re not Scottish and still want to place a bet here.

London Bet

London Bet joined the wider AK Bets family in 2025, although the relationship here is based on technology rather than ownership. The site is operated by Thistle Bet Limited under its UK Gambling Commission licence, but it uses the same Playbook platform that sits behind AK Bets. That shared machinery is easy to spot once you start clicking around. London Bet is built primarily for sports bettors, with football and horse racing given plenty of room, but there’s also a casino section covering slots, live dealer games and other familiar options. The branding leans heavily into the capital without becoming too gimmicky, and the site itself is straightforward to use. It doesn’t have AK Bets’ trackside story or distinctive personality, but it does offer a closely related experience underneath the surface. If you like the way AK Bets works, London Bet should feel instantly familiar.

Proper Bet

Proper Bet is another recent addition to the group of AK Bets sister sites, having launched in August 2026. As with London Bet, the link is technological rather than corporate. Proper Bet Limited holds its UK Gambling Commission licence, but the site runs on the same Playbook platform used by AK Bets, which makes the similarities difficult to miss. This is another sportsbook-first operation, with football, racing, tennis and other markets taking priority, but there’s also a casino section for players who want slots or live games. The design is clean, simple and functional, and there’s a distinctly British tone to the branding that fits the name. Proper Bet is too new for us to say that it’s built much of a reputation yet, but the underlying platform is sound. If you know AK Bets, you’ll recognise plenty of the machinery behind this newcomer.

AK Bets Review 2026

AK Bets is a sports betting brand that’s come a long way in quite a short space of time. Its first incarnation was a mere pop-up on-course bookmaker at Killarney in July 2021. The brand’s owners lost money on its first day’s trade but stuck it out to take seventy-thousand on-course bets in its first year. So much growth followed in late 2022 that by the time 2023 began, the time had come to launch AK Bets as an online betting company. The owners initially chose Star Racing Limited as the operator to partner with, but AK Bets has since moved to Akbo Limited, which now holds the UK Gambling Commission licence covering akbets.bet. How good is the betting website they came up with? Read on to find out.

AK Bets Welcome Promotions

AK Bets has two sports welcome promotions to choose from, both of which are built around giving your first bet a little extra value rather than handing you a conventional matched-deposit bonus. Use the code AKACCA100 on a qualifying first accumulator of three selections or more and you’ll receive a free bet worth 25% of your winnings, up to a maximum of £100. Horse racing fans can instead use AKLUCKY100 on a qualifying first Lucky 15 for the same 25% free-bet boost up to £100. Neither promotion is the sort of enormous sign-up deal that some bigger bookies use to grab attention, but they make sense for a sportsbook-first brand.

Other Promotions

AK Bets has built its ongoing promotions around AK’s Big Rewards, which is split into five daily clubs covering Casino, Greyhound Racing, US Racing, Virtuals and In-Play Multis. Stake £50 on qualifying bets or games within one of those clubs in a day and you’re guaranteed a reward the following day. Depending on the club, the minimum reward is either a £1 free bet or ten free spins, with better prizes possible. The site also has access to Pragmatic Play Drops and Wins games, which add another route to occasional cash prizes.

Most people who visit AK Bets are still coming for sports betting rather than casino games, and the promotion mix reflects that. The daily clubs spread the rewards across racing, virtual sports, in-play multis and casino play, while event-specific offers appear according to what’s happening in the sports world at the time. The banners at the top of the homepage are therefore always worth a look to see what’s new.

What are the Pros and Cons of AK Bets?

Pros: AK Bets is obviously a fast-growing betting brand. Getting from a single on-track betting stall to a substantial online operation in the space of little more than eighteen months is impressive. The number of sports AK Bets covers is impressive, and the website is easy to use. It also comes as an app and now has a respectable selection of promotions for regular customers.

Cons: While the sportsbook is excellent, the way it’s presented is a little bare-bones. The current Trustpilot score is weak, and some of the daily rewards require £50 of qualifying stakes before anything is earned, so there are still more generous betting sites out there if promotions are high on your list of priorities.

Top Games at AK Bets

We’ve talked about the fact that AK Bets has casino promotions to offer, so you already know that it has a casino section full of top slots from great providers. They aren’t the focus of AK Bets, though. When you load the AK Bets website, the first thing you see is a list of odds for the next horse racing event on the schedule. As such, the “top games” at AK Bets are the sporting fixtures and events that the site offers odds on.

The full A-Z of sports offered at AK Bets isn’t as extensive as the one you’ll find at, for example, Star Sports Bet, but that’s to be expected when Star Sports Bet is the premier betting site on the network. Unless you’re looking for especially niche sports, the event or match you’re looking to place a wager on will be covered. Special betting events or highlighted upcoming fixtures are listed on a scrolling banner at the top of the AK Bets homepage, so that’s worth paying attention to when you first land.

Withdrawal Processing & Support

AK Bets now supports a better selection of payment methods than the old debit-card-only setup it had when it was new. Visa and Mastercard debit cards are still available, alongside Apple Pay and Instant Bank Transfer, although the precise options you see can depend on your account. Withdrawal speed also depends on the method. Instant Bank Transfer and Apple Pay can be extremely quick, while card withdrawals may take longer, but same-day payouts are certainly possible. That puts AK Bets in a much stronger position than sites that still make every customer wait several business days for their money.

Customer Services & Licensing

AK Bets now offers Trader Chat for real-time assistance, which is a considerable improvement on relying on social media alone as it once did. You can also send an email to customerservices@akbets.bet, and a callback option is available if you’d rather speak to somebody. The exact availability of each support route can vary, but there are now several ways to get help when something goes wrong.

AK Bets is covered by UK Gambling Commission licence 66030, which belongs to Akbo Limited. It’s a clean licence with no regulatory actions currently recorded against it. AK Bets originally launched online through Star Racing Limited, whose separate licence 9177 was hit with a £594,000 penalty in July 2023 after a regulatory review found anti-money-laundering and social responsibility failings. That history belongs to Star Racing rather than AK Bets’ current operator. The platform-linked sister sites on this page also have their own licensing arrangements rather than sharing Akbo Limited’s licence.

AK Bets – The Verdict

AK Bets is clearly an ambitious brand. It wouldn’t have made it from trackside to the internet in less than two years if it wasn’t. The current version of the site is also a better proposition than its rather basic appearance might suggest, with proper welcome offers, daily rewards, real-time customer support and withdrawal methods that can produce same-day payouts. The weak Trustpilot score is difficult to ignore, though, and AK Bets still doesn’t have the polish or sheer scale of the biggest names in the UK sports betting scene. We appreciate that the brand is still growing, and we’re hopeful that it will continue to improve given time.

What are players saying about AK Bets?

Here are our condensed summaries of recent AK Bets reviews from real players.

  • 17-Aug-2026 by Lucas: I’ve reported AK Bets to IBAS after what I consider a completely unacceptable betting issue. A maximum-stake bet appeared on my account without my consent, and I contacted support hours before it settled with proof that I hadn’t placed it. They refused to void it or offer a cash-out, then blamed me when it lost. I’ve had bad betting experiences before, but never anything like this. I wouldn’t deposit a penny here again. – source: Trustpilot
  • 12-Aug-2026 by Big Country: Same story as so many other casinos for me. I played for an hour and didn’t get a single bonus. Absolutely disgusting experience. – source: Trustpilot
  • 09-Aug-2026 by Michelle: Awful experience. It felt like nothing but dead spins and money disappearing. I certainly won’t be rushing back. – source: Trustpilot
  • 02-Aug-2026 by Ashley: I’m not sure why AK Bets has so many negative reviews because my own experience was completely different. I won some money in the casino and the payout was quick, which is really all I want from a bookmaker. I came on here specifically to say thank you. No complaints from me. – source: Trustpilot
  • 02-Aug-2026 by TM: I strongly disagree with what I was told by support about players being able to get around GamStop restrictions. In my view, AK Bets should be doing a far better job of identifying people who are meant to be blocked from gambling. The whole situation left me with absolutely no confidence in the company, and I’d advise anyone considering joining to stay well away. – source: Trustpilot
  • 01-Aug-2026 by Lee: Absolutely shocking betting site from my experience. I’d been waiting more than five days for a payout, customer service was terrible and they don’t offer Best Price Guaranteed. I’d stay well clear. – source: Trustpilot
  • 26-Jul-2026 by Dave: I started off really liking the site. Payouts were quick and it covered all the sports I wanted, although I wished they offered BOG on horse racing. Then I placed £150 on Knightmare, the horse won and the winnings appeared in my account, only to be removed 12 minutes later because AK Bets said the bet had been placed late. I don’t see how that was my fault, and the reply I received was rude and abrupt. I’m now considering taking the dispute to IBAS. – source: Trustpilot
  • 23-Jul-2026 by Tann: Absolutely dreadful. That’s really all I have to say about my experience here. – source: Trustpilot
  • 20-Jul-2026 by Adrian: The games seemed to play differently here for me. I can only guess the RTP felt very low because bonuses on the Big Bass games hardly seemed to appear, and when they did the results were poor. I’d avoid it based on my experience. – source: Trustpilot
  • 02-Aug-2026 by Jason: Stay clear. I joined after seeing an offer for a matched free bet on my first deposit, but I felt the promotion wasn’t honoured properly. I also lost around £47 in free bets and believe I was short-changed by about £60 on another bet because AK Bets doesn’t pay Best Odds Guaranteed. What annoyed me most was that this wasn’t clear to me beforehand, and support didn’t seem interested when I complained. I definitely wouldn’t have joined if I’d understood the terms properly. – source: Trustpilot
