That’s not quite the full story, though – Proper Bet uses the same software template as Star Sports Bet, AK Bets, McBookie, London Bet, and a few other popular online bookies. There is no sports betting market in the world more competitive or harder to break into than the one in Britain. Plenty of big names have tried to make a dent in the UK market during the past few years and have been forced to run away with their tails between their legs, so it’s always a surprise to us when a new operator like Proper Bet Limited takes a crack at it, as it has done with the launch of Proper Bet in August 2026. At the same stroke, smaller brands like London Bet have managed to grab a foothold in recent times, and Proper Bet has the advantage of using the same software template. Does that make it better than your average bookie? Let’s see.
Proper Bet Welcome Bonuses
Proper Bet launched without any welcome promotions or other sign-up incentives in place, and that was a big surprise to us. While there will be some players out there who’d rather skip on the freebies in favour of betting with their own money, we’d expect a challenger brand to at least make an attempt to draw players away from their usual preferred bookie by offering them something for nothing. Proper Bet does nothing of the sort, and we can’t help but feel that the absence of any promotional pizazz is going to make its task of finding an audience even harder.
Other Promotions
The ongoing rewards scheme at Proper Bet is, appropriately enough, called ‘Proper Rewards.’ It’s a simple earn-as-you-bet scheme, with a 20p free bet awarded for every £10 wagered between Friday and Thursday every week. The maximum free bet value you can accumulate across the week is £100, and it’ll be credited automatically every Friday at or by 6pm. Only bets placed on events with odds of 1.5 or greater qualify for the promotion.
Players who download the Proper Bet app and switch on notifications are promised additional rewards including free bets and “Proper Boosts,” but the mechanics of these “Proper Boosts” aren’t explained anywhere on the website. Perhaps we should cut Proper Bet some slack on account of it being barely 24 hours old when we reviewed it, but we’ll always believe that casinos and betting sites shouldn’t go live until all the essential information is in place. That hasn’t happened with Proper Bet.
What are the Pros and Cons of Proper Bet?
Pros: The software template that powers Proper Bet is a proven success and is already in use at several big-name UK-facing betting websites. Players get a 20p free bet for every £10 they wager per week, reaching a possible maximum value of £100 for big spenders.
Cons: Proper Bet launched without a welcome promotion, and that wasn’t the only thing the site was missing at launch. The FAQ section is also missing, along with explanations of other features like “Proper Boosts.” It’s a bland-looking, incomplete website without the tools to compete with the best in the marketplace.
Featured Slots and Games
This is an old-school bookie with a strong focus on horse and greyhound racing. Odds for the day’s racing will always be the first thing you see when you land on the Proper Bet homepage, with football coverage as the next priority. The A-Z list of covered sports and events is a little shorter than you might expect it to be, though, with only sixteen sports covered in total, and MMA as one of the most surprising omissions. Badminton, swimming, and cycling aren’t covered either, so Proper Bet is a minimalist bookie in terms of coverage just as much as it is in terms of appearance.
Given how bare-bones the site is, it’s almost a surprise to see that Proper Bet offers any casino games at all. It does, though, and you’ll find the pick of its range towards the bottom of the homepage. On the day we wrote this review, the top slots were Big Bass Splash 1000, Gates of Olympus 1000, Big Bass Bonanza, and Sugar Rush 1000, so the collection is up-to-date even if it appears to be heavily reliant on Pragmatic Play as a provider. Basic table game simulators like blackjack and roulette are also available, as are virtual sports.
Withdrawal Options and Speed
Withdrawal speed is, presumably, one of the topics that will be covered in the Proper Bet FAQ when the site’s operator eventually gets around to adding the FAQ to the website. Until then, all we can do is assume that turnaround speed will be the same as it is at the brand’s platform peers like Star Sports Bet, in which case you can expect a 1-3 day turnaround. The only supported method is debit card, so you can’t use an e-wallet or any instant banking alternatives.
Customer Support and Licence
There’s no on-site support at Proper Bet at all. If you want or need assistance, email support@proper.bet and hope that someone responds sooner rather than later. Alternatively, you might be able to contact the brand via its official accounts on Facebook, X/Twitter, or Instagram. That might not be so bad if there was an FAQ or help centre to deal with common problems, but as we noted in the section above, the site went live without one in place. In better news, Proper Bet is covered by the UK Gambling Commission licence that Proper Bet Limited holds under account number 100990. It’s a clean licence, but given that it was only issued in May 2026, it would be almost impossible for it not to be. If the operator adds any Proper Bet sister sites in the future, the same licence can be extended to cover them.
Proper Bet – The Verdict
Proper Bet Limited has done itself no favours by launching a brand new bookie with a missing FAQ section, no welcome bonuses, and no proper explanation of one of its core ongoing promotions. The software platform that provides the foundations of Proper Bet is good, and we quite like the weekly free bet reward system, but these things alone aren’t enough to persuade us we should step away from our usual bookie in favour of giving Proper Bet a go. There’s potential here, but it’s been harmed by a clumsy launch, and more features will need to be added if the brand wants to become a contender.
