Vickers, Vickers Bet, Bet Vickers, call it what you will – this is the betting brand that won’t die. We’ll get into what we mean by that in our full Vickers review, which you’ll find below. A couple of years ago, Vickers was on the Playbook Gaming Limited platform, at which point the Vickers sister sites included Rhino Bet, Planet Sport Bet, BetZone, and others. What a ride the past few years has been for the old Vickers brand, which has been well-known in the racing world since before the turn of the century. It was a Playbook Gaming brand for several years, shocking everyone when it switched to AG Communications Limited in 2024. We always thought the move looked like a bad fit for the brand given that AG Communications specialises in casino games rather than sports betting, so we were sad but unsurprised when Vickers appeared to close in February 2025. That wasn’t the end of the story, though.

Vickers is now back to its original name of Bet Vickers, and back in the hands of the family that owns the real-life Vickers betting shops. It’s also back to being an orthodox sports betting brand, with no casino elements attached. We do think there might be an element of buyer’s remorse about the move, though, because unless we’re very much mistaken, the template that the ‘new’ Vickers website is based on comes from the brand’s old friends at Playbook Gaming. How does this latest incarnation of Vickers fare when compared to its predecessors? Let’s find out.

Vickers Welcome Promotions

Everything about this newest version of Vickers is simpler and faster to get to the point than the previous version. As such, the welcome bonus is a nice, easy “Bet £10 Get £10” offer. It works exactly the way it sounds like it should – open a Vickers account, deposit £10 into it, bet that £10 on sports (minimum odds 1/1), and then get a £10 free bet token. The bet token must also be spent on a single event with odds of 1/1 or greater, but that’s the only bit of red tape attached to it – there are no other wagering requirements.

Other Promotions

There’s only one other promotion on offer to players at Vickers, and it’s membership of a weekly “Bet Club.” All you need to do to become a member is bet £30 or more on sports over the course of a week, and in return, you’ll get a £5 free bet. A week, for the purposes of the promotion, is defined as the period between Monday and Sunday. Once you’ve got your free bet token, you have to spend it one go on an event with odds of 1/1 or greater, making it much like the welcome promotion in that respect. It’s not much, but we suppose it’s a little reason to keep coming back to Vickers.

What are the Pros and Cons of Bet Vickers?

Pros: Now its original owners have regained total control of the digital version of Vickers, it has that ‘family business’ feeling again. It sticks rigidly to sports betting, knows what it’s good at, keeps things very simple, and offers a small free bet every week to bettors who show loyalty to the brand.

Cons: You could read ‘family business’ as ‘small.’ Whether or not you thought casino games were ever a good fit for the Vickers brand, you can’t deny that the site feels smaller without them. There are also fewer bonuses than there used to be. Vickers might be a little bit too simple for its own good.

The UK Gambling Commission licence that covers Bet Vickers is held by Johan Vickers himself, and has been in place since 2009 under licence number 2203. The licence is clean, with no history of fines or other regulatory actions. There aren’t any Bet Vickers sister sites at the moment, but the licence could be extended to cover them if that changes.

Bet Vickers – The Verdict

Vickers has returned to its roots. It’s no longer trying to become an online casino or dabbling with big bonuses – it looks and feels like a horse racing brand that also allows players to bet on other sports if they want to. Whether or not you like that is going to be down to your tastes as a bettor. It’s going to be too simple and too one-dimensional for quite a few of you, but others will appreciate having access to a simple betting site that doesn’t try to push or pull you in other directions.
